Championship Cat Breeds
Currently 55 championship cat breeds are recognized for championship competitions. These breeds are classified by TICA (The International Cat Association), which is the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigreed cats.
TICA has four categories of different cat breeds:
Championship Breeds
These are breeds of cats that have been accepted for championship and compete in TICA shows.
Cats under this category must be 8 months or older and can male or female and neutered or spayed. The different championship cat breeds are:
Abyssinian, American Bobtail, American Bobtail SH, American Curl, American Curl LH, American Shorthair, American Wirehair, Balinese, Bengal, Birman, Bombay, British Shorthair, British Longhair, Burmese, Chartreux, Cornish Rex, Cymric, Devon Rex, Egyptian Mau, Exotic Shorthair, Havana, Himalayan, Japanese Bobtail, Japanese Bobtail LH, Korat, LaPerm, LaPerm Shorthair, Maine Coon, Manx, Munchkin, Munchkin Longhair, Nebelung, Norwegian Forest, Ocicat, Oriental Longhair, Oriental Shorthair, Persian, Peterbald, Pixiebob, Pixiebob Longhair, Ragdoll, Russian Blue, Scottish Fold, Scottish Fold LH, Selkirk Rex, Selkirk Rex LH, Siamese, Siberian, Singapura, Snowshoe, Somali, Sphynx, Tonkinese, Toyger, Turkish Angora, Turkish Van.

This category consists of household pets and kittens which compete in TICA shows and are made up of 3 general groups:
- unregistered pedigree cats
- mixed breed cats
- half-pedigree cats.

Advanced New Breeds
This is the 2nd level of the Championship Advancement Class Program. These breeds of cats can be shown in TICA shows but cannot earn titles.
To be eligible for championship status they have to follow specific rules. The different advanced new cat breeds are:

Preliminary New Breeds
This is the beginning level of the Championship Advancement Class Program. These breeds of cats can be shown in TICA shows but cannot earn titles.
To be eligible for advancement they have to follow specific rules. The different preliminary new cat breeds are:
The Donskoy, The Highlander LH & SH, The Kurilian Bobtail LH & SH, The Minskin, The Ojos Azules LH & SH, The Serengeti and The Sokoke.
